Introduction
Reporting to the Engineering Foreman, this role will develop, fabricate, install and maintain equipment according to sound engineering practice and equipment specifications
Duties & Responsibilities
ï‚· Provide subject matter expertise and skills in area of responsibility; advising on solutions to enhance or ensure the effectiveness of the department/section.
ï‚· Assist Foreman in executing his/his duties as and when required.
ï‚· Conduct planned task observations.
ï‚· Conduct plastic pipe welding.
ï‚· Conduct risk assessments (activity based and mini).
ï‚· Conduct welding of high density pressure equipment (HDPE).
ï‚· Cut and weld components to repair and maintain steel constructions.
ï‚· Fabricate steel fabrications by drawing, measuring, conducting layout and erecting structures.
ï‚· Perform assigned work during shutdowns.
ï‚· Perform de-energize and lock out of electrical equipment.
ï‚· Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, manufacturing and company standards to report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Foreman.
ï‚· Perform rigging activities.
ï‚· Remove and replace components to maintain steel fabrications.
ï‚· Responsible for conducting fault finding on default structures and deterring the steps to be taken to repair faults.
ï‚· Responsible for painting steel fabrications.
ï‚· Responsible for performing drilling activities using a hand drill and pedestal.
ï‚· Responsible for performing grinding activities.
ï‚· Responsible for signing the mobile machinery pre-start log books.
ï‚· Responsible for trade related administration.
ï‚· Conduct maintenance planning.
ï‚· Engagement and Communication: Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system with the Engineering Function and operation.
ï‚· Company Policy & Procedures Compliance: Takes cognisance of and adhere to Company policies, procedures and relevant legislation. Manage and report on non compliance issues.
ï‚· Safety, Health and Environment Compliance: Model behaviour that is consistent with the Company Vision and Values. Manage and report on non compliance issues.

Desired Experience & Qualification
ï‚· Grade 10
ï‚· N2 Certificate
ï‚· Qualified Boilermaker Trade Certificate through a recognised institution and apprenticeship
ï‚· 3 years post Apprenticeship/Qualification experience as a Boilermaker
 Valid Drivers’ License
