Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacancy of a Drill Master to be based in Namibia. The successful candidate will report to the Mine Overseer.
Duties & Responsibilities
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
- At least 8 years drilling experience on a trackless mining operation
- Preference will be given to candidates with Epiroc M4C stoping rig experience.
- Experience in the SLOS mining method drilling
- Extensive working experience in underground decline development, stoping access and mining reef drive development as a Drill Master
- Experience in vertical long hole drilling according to mine design
- Proven track record of production achievements
- Experience operating double boomer 282 rigs will be advantageous.
- Good knowledge and experience of mechanised mining operations
- Previous expatriate experience will be advantageous.
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
- Execution of effective drilling and development
- Effective planning, organising, leading and control within area of responsibility
- Effective drilling to ensure adherence to work schedule
- Be alert and proactive in identifying and communicating equipment deficiencies
- Monitor and report on consumables used (bits, rods in R/m and shank and coupling usage)
- Effective self and team management in alignment with M&RC’s values
- Compliance with SHEQ, MRC and Client standards, policies and procedures
Desired Experience & Qualification
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
- Drill Rig Operator Certificate
- Load Haul Dumper and Dump Truck operating license
- Valid EB Driver’s License
- Sound verbal and written communication skills in English
