Is Rhodes University internationally Recognised?

Any education received in SA before 1994 is generally recognised internationally. South Africa had one of the highest levels of education in the world. Since 1994 their has been no control on the quality of education. In fact, education has gone the political correct and affirmative action route. I learned this as a lecturer back in the late 90s. I lectured at several large schools and colleges, including Damelin. The SA Department of Education informed all schools that they WILL take on a certain amount of black students. Most of these students were given government bursaries. We were then told that a certain percentage of the black students WILL pass. Any teacher or lecturer that failed to many black kids would be labeled a racist. I was forced to drop my test levels down to extremely basic levels. We finally figured out that the best option was to give multiple choice questions and then hope the black kids would just ‘guess’ the correct answers. I left the education field in mid 2000. I could not bare to see the racist politics in action. My final day of lecturing was the day we were informed that the government had decided that a school or teacher is not allowed to discriminate against a pupils intelligence. What this means is that if a student has the mental inclination to become lawyer, but he is enrolled in a medical course, then you are not allowed to point out that he is studying in the wrong field and you just have to accept it and pass the student. This is why I say the students were wasting their time. Once the student completes his course, he tries to find work. At the interviews it comes out that they dont even like the subject they are qualified in. They have simply chosen that field because they were told it is the highest paying field. Never in that black students life did anyone explain to him that you actually have to do work to get that pay check. All he was told is that white people get paid a lot of money to do that job and that if anyone tries to prevent him from getting that job then they are racist.

This is why there is such a down slope in peoples attitude and ethics in Africa. Being told that everyone else is wrong and you are right does not make a person grow. Slipping through your entire school career without having to pass a test is not good. Many black students in university have been found to be illiterate. 12 years at school and then getting accepted into university, but you cant read or write? The education system has wasted and destroyed that persons life. He is now to old to go back to school to try get an education. Employers, locally and international have picked up on this problem. Affirmative action will assist some of these people in finding employment. But is is not that fancy job they expected. Disillusionment and frustration soon fills your heart and you become jealous and bitter.
