ABOUT THE COMPANY – SAFCOL

SAFCOL (South African Forestry Company Limited) is involved in the forestry industry operations within the provinces of KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Limpopo, and Manica and Sofala provinces in Mozambique. As the third largest state-owned company in the country, SAFCOL is responsible for ensuring that forests and other assets in the SAFCOL Group are sustainably managed.

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

SAFCOL will be awarding bursaries within the following fields of study (undergraduate and postgraduate):

  • Agro-Forestry
  • Forest Scientific Research
  • Eco/ Agro-Tourism
  • Wood Science/ Wood Technology
  • Wood Lumber Research
  • Construction/ Structural Engineering & Management
  • Human Settlement Development
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical & Electronic Engineering
  • Project Management
  • Human Resource Management
  • Marketing & Sales
  • Business Management

 

MORE ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – COVERAGE VALUE, SERVICE CONTRACT & SELECTION

The bursary will provide cover for the following expenses: registration fees, tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, study material, accommodation, meals and a stipend per semester.

Once students have graduated, they will be required to work for SAFCOL for the equal duration of the bursary received.

Shortlisted candidate will be contacted – should you not receive any feedback within 30 days of the closing date, please consider your application unsuccessful.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying or intend on studying full-time within one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Studying or intend on studying at a recognised and accredited university or university of technology in South Africa
  • *Preference will be given to: female students, previously disadvantaged students, those with disabilities and students who reside in communities adjacent SAFCOL plantations

Download and complete the SAFCOL Bursary Application Form (.pdf)
Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your online application (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Latest academic transcript/ record, if currently at tertiary level (on official letterhead)
  • Admission/ provisional acceptance letter from tertiary institute
  • Motivational letter explaining why you deserve to be awarded the bursary
