Duties & Responsibilities

Background & Job Purpose:


We are a leading producer and distributor of bananas and other fruit in Zimbabwe and South Africa and have exciting plans for the continued growth of our production and distribution platforms.

The position oversees the effective and efficient development of our expansion  programs, build value over time by the continuous improvement and development of the horticultural operation.

Major Functions /Accountabilities:

  • General Operations Management – operating costs per unit,
  • Drive ongoing continuous improvement focusing on detail around quality, volumes and yields,
  • Recruiting, leading and developing first class management team,
  • Attention to detailed operations systems and SOPs to drive productivity and quality and crop planning from field through packhouse,
  • Drive adoption of global best practices and benchmarks with local innovation,
  • Develop product SKU’s, packaging and implementation,
  • Budgets and forecasts, financial analysis and planning,
  • Plan and develop capacity depth and skills at all levels through operations,
  • Closely guard reputation and integrity of the business.

Computer proficiencies: –

Excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point plus experience with Sage Evolution


  • Distinct Agronomy skills particularly in a big fruit export oriented horticultural cropping – or plantations,
  • Demonstrated a strategic -hands – on approach to transform the operation into an enviable entity,
  • Good appreciation of corporate governance.
