Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan and prioritise tasks, anticipate problems and co-ordinate grade control activities.
  • Carry out tasks against set standards and specifications.
  • Monitoring and reporting on grade control factors.
  • Identify and advise on opportunities and areas for corrective action that will lead to minimisation of gold losses.
  • Identification and quantification of reef pillars and broken ore left behind
  • Liaise closely with production and service departments to ensure grade control objectives are achieved.
  • Identify grade problems and constraints and recommend corrective action to maximise gold extraction and improve the MCF.
  • Complete underground investigations and measurements, including sweepings, vamping investigations, mud loading investigations and opening up.
  • Capture graphical electronic measurements on DeswikCad.
  • Complete monthly Gold Loss Reports.
  • Lockup measuring and reporting.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Must be in possession of a Grade 12 Certificate or Equivalent qualification (Maths and Science).
  • Must be in possession of a valid certificate of fitness or able to obtain one.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years Grade Officer experience in underground mining.
  • Chamber of Mines – Advance Valuation Certificate essential.
  • Must have a high level of oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be highly computer literate (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to work creatively and independently.
  • Experience in MRM systems will be advantageous (GMSI CadsMine/Microstation, DeswikCAD).
