Incredible opportunity for an outgoing, dynamic Salesperson with an BSc Hons/MSc/PhD qualification in Molecular Biology or related field, must have at least 2 years independent, hands on, molecular biology-based lab experience, and with at least 2 years sales experience in this field, valid driver’s license, SA citizen.

A well renowned and established South African distributor of high-quality instrumentation, consumables and lab solutions is recruiting for a qualified Sales Rep role in their Molecular Biology division selling instrumentation. The successful candidate will be responsible for new business development and sales, visiting customers, equipment demonstrations, after sales service and support. The product range includes Next Generation sequencing, Capillary sequencing, microarray genotyping and highly programmed lab automation instrumentation for high throughput labs. Responsibilities in the role will also include sales reporting, planning and complying with company processes. The role is well supported by a strong infrastructure within the company, including an existing customer base, strong leadership, an excellent product range and experienced Application Specialists. Travel is integral to the position (W. Cape, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape and Free State).


  • Post grad qualification (BSc Hons/Masters (MSc), Doctorate (PhD)) in Molecular Biology or related (Biomedical Science, Biotechnology, Genetics, Biochemistry etc.)
  • At least 2 years hands on, independent lab experience using Molecular biology
  • Next Generation Sequencing & library preparation experience required
  • Genotyping array, microarray and other genomic techniques also highly advantageous
  • Outstanding communication skills (English)
  • Relevant experience in sales in the lab industry (2 years) required
  • Compelling Customer Service focus
  • Strategic thinker, self-motivated, goal driven problem solver
  • Professional personal presentation
  • Willing to travel to various provinces
  • Driver’s license and own vehicle
  • Valid SA ID
