Coastal TVET College Nsfas Application
The Bursary was founded to give financial support to students who have the potential to succeed at NCV or NATED (Report 191) Studies, who have difficulty in catering to their education. This scheme is administered by NSFAS (National Students Financial Aid Scheme).
In order to be a qualified NSFAS Applicant;
- Be a South African citizen.
- You need to be enrolled or intend to enroll for the NC(V) programs at any of the 50 public FET colleges in South Africa.
- Be in need of financial assistance.
- Be able to demonstrate potential for academic success.
NSFAS is Applicable only on the following bases;
- It is not possible for the bursary to cover all students in the college due to the limited bursary funding available.
- Will students who are awarded bursaries have to pay the money back after the completion of their studies?
- TVET College students do not have to pay the money back as it is a bursary allocation and not a loan.
- Qualifying students
- Report 191 Programmes    – Must have passed 3 subjects out of 4
- NCV                                    – Must have passed 5 subjects out of 7

Documents needed for NSFAS Application;
- 4 certified copies of the student’s ID
- Both parent’s or Guardian’s Certified ID copies
- Both parent’s or Guardians proof of income (latest payslips/pension card/child support grant card)
- Sworn affidavit by parents or guardian if unemployed
- Certified copy of death certificates in the event that mother and/or father are deceased
- Proof of address (utility bill or letter from Councilor)
- Certified copy of your landlord’s ID copy if renting private accommodation.

-Please visit the NSFAS website – nsfas.org.za or follow the link on our website – https://www.coastalkzn.co.za
-You may also choose to visit any Buffalo City TVET College Campus – Student Support Service for assistance.
-Please ensure that you have the correct documents (certified not older than 3 months) in electronic format available:

- Your South African ID or a birth certificate( if you do not have a green bar-coded ID or smart ID card)
- ID of parents and/or guardian or death certificate where applicable.
– Pay advice/letter of employment/ pension advice stating income of parents and/or guardian (SASSA slips are not
required and SASSA should not be included as household income
-Please ensure that you download the CONSENT FORM and that it is completed by your parent/s and or guardian – this has to be attached to your Application form – see flip-side for details
