Introduction
Cape Town Southern Suburbs based Ixande Addiction and Psychiatric Clinic is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join their treatment team. Â The Occupational Therapist should be a passionate individual with strong boundaries, able to work with addiction and psychiatric patients.
Duties & Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate group sessions in the therapeutic programme
- Conduct individual sessions with patients
- Conduct conjoint sessions with patients’ families
- Participation in all groups to gain an understanding of the programme and be able to facilitate various groups when required
- Assess/Interview patients
- Carry out administrative tasks
- Report writing
- Liaise with multi-disciplinary team
- Accompany patients on sessions outside of the hospital and provide therapeutic interventions during these times if required
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualification and Desired Experience:
- Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Current HPCSA registration
- BHF registration is an advantage
- Experience within a psychiatric and/or addiction environment/hospital
- Awareness of evidence base for interventions
- Good written and spoken English language skills
- Effective interdisciplinary team worker
- Computer literate
