NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY (MAHIKENG) FACULTY/ DIVISION: HUMANITIES SCHOOL OF LANGUAGE: ACADEMIC LITERACY POSITION NUMBER: M000720 & V000128 VACANCY: JUNIOR LECTURERS X 2 PEROMNES GRADE: A9 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION To fill a long vacant position of Junior lecturer in the department of Academic Literacy.

Description
  1. Teaching & Learning
    • Take responsibility of a full teaching load of ALDE 111 & ALDE 121 (and carry out related duties, i.e., marking, setting assessments).
  2. Academic Administration
    • Keep class discipline and adhere to all the requirements for the administration of allocated modules as required by the NWU rules and policy.
  3. Research & Publications
    • Be active in research through self-development, attend workshops in research in pursuit of furthering one’s academic qualifications and publishing articles etc. Improve qualifications to Master’s/Doctorate level; contribute towards the research output of the School of Languages.
  4. Social Responsiveness/ Community Engagement
  •  Participate in community engagements through community projects and collaboration with Stake holders where         necessary.

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.

Profile
  • BA Honours  Degree or equivalent in Linguistics / Applied Linguistics  or  Related field
  • One year Experience in Tutorship or Lecturing

ADDED ADVANTAGE & PREFERENCES:

  • Experience in Research and Publication will be an added advantage

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Fundamental knowledge of key issues in the development of Academic Literacy
  • Computer literacy
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Package (e.g. MS Word, Excel)
  • Administration soft and hard skills – excellent administrative and organising ability

KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Good interpersonal skills to cultivate good work relationships with colleagues as well as students
