Rhodes University Allan Webb Hall
Allan Webb
Allan Webb Koshuis heet u welkom.
Wamkelekile eAllan Webb.
It is without doubt the most beautiful Hall on campus, and on behalf of the Hall Committee, the students, and the staff of the Hall we would like to invite you to take a look around our website and sign our guestbook.
Not only is Allan Webb the smallest Hall at Rhodes University but we have the most amenities for our students. Situated in lovely grounds known as St Peter’s, this part of the University was formerly the Grahamstown Training College. The four residences, built at the turn of the century, are named after British Cathedral Cities.
Canterbury House overlooks huge trees and sweeping lawns which are used for the annual graduation party and occasional lunchtime concerts presented by the Music Department. Canterbury House lies across the road from Winchester House. Canterbury Annexe is a home to 32 students, which is a sub-division of Canterbury House. It houses 7 (seven) double rooms as well as big single rooms, but unfortunately they do not have wash basins. With only 34 students, it becomes a big family and home away from home. The Annexe is across the road to Canterbury House.  Truro House is small and charming, catering for mature women students. Salisbury House is built around it’s own courtyard and overlooks the picturesque Makana Botanical Gardens. All four houses are within easy walking distance of the main campus, and share the rolling lawns of St Peter’s with the departments of Law, Education, and Music and Musicology.
A tennis court and volleyball court are situated in the St Peter’s grounds, while there is a swimming pool for all residents of the Hall in the grounds of Winchester House. The rooms in Winchester House, Canterbury House, Canterbury Annexe, Salisbury House and Truro House are connected to the Residence Network, providing round-the-clock access to the Rhodes Network and the Internet. The Hall also boasts a recreation room with a full sized snooker table in the cellars beneath the dining hall.
