Rhodes University Drama Department Production
Productions
Rhodes University Drama Department excels in a multidisiplinary and collaborative approach to theatre, producing a wide range of work from plays to physical theatre, site-specific and applied theatre projects.
Students play a major role in the making and performing of productions. This is in line with the department’s commitment to student-centred learning; staff act as facilitators and mentors for these creative endevours.
A number of professionals also contribute to the artisitc programme. Students can work on productions either on stage, or backstage, right from first year.
Throughout the year postgraduate students working in diverse specialisations – such as Applied Theatre, Choreography, Design, Directing, Writing, and Physical Performance – produce theatre events and experiences for public and examination purposes.
Productions are of a high standard and performances are well supported by the Rhodes University community.
