Introduction
Thirsti, requires the services of a suitably qualified Food Technologist or Food Scientist for a bottling plant in the Newcastle (KZN) area, this position will be based at the bottling plant in NEWCASTLE.
Duties & Responsibilities
​​​​​​The Food Technologist is required to join our beverage company, in order to provide a competitive edge through the delivery of quality, safety, availability and innovation.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Provide technical input to the design and implementation of Product development
- Brand Integrity and product safety
- Customer Satisfaction
- Develop leading edge, innovative and high quality products
- Interaction and communication with internal buying departments, retailers and suppliers
- Involvement in category specific developments and projects
- Manage and monitor technical key performance indicators in order to meet business operating plans
- Management and involvement in product and process auditing
- Quality monitoring and reporting
- Packaging development, with respect to legislation, nutritional aspects and shelf life
Desired Experience & Qualification
- BTech or BSC on Food Science
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in similar or related industry
- Prior Beverage experience would be an advantage
- Factory (food production environment) and laboratory experience required
- Knowledge of technical processes and principles (including HACCP, GMP, Supply Chain)
- Technical product knowledge (incl. characteristics, raw material sourcing/manufacturing processes and quality/safety parameters
- Knowledge of packaging functionality and application
- New product development experience
- FSSC 22000 implementation and management experience
