Introduction

A well-known and established company, specialising in the Trailer Manufacturing industry requires the above to manage and lead the Procurement Department. The candidate must be very analytical, detail orientated and excellent in excel and report writing.

Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Tertiary qualification – Degree or related in either supply chain management or industrial engineering or related qualification is essential.
  • 10+ years experience having worked in a Procurement Management role with demonstrable results in complex buying working within manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Previous experience having managed and led a procurement department.
  • Previous category management experience preferable.
  • Must be proficient in the use of SYSPRO and or related ERP system as well as Microsoft applications.
  • Must have strong leadership, resilience, knowledge and commercial know-how to be able to lead from the front.
  • Need to be able to take ownership and work independently.
  • Person must have good business acumen.
  • Good understanding of product costing is preferred.
  • The successful candidate must be analytical with a strong understanding of inventory and supply chain modelling from end to end.
  • The candidate must be strong in report writing.
  • A financial background will be advantageous.
  • Must have excellent excel skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for: 

  • Attending various Management and production meetings.
  • Responsible for all procurement categories for our trailer manufacturing company.
  • The candidate will be efficient in stock levels and forecasting with the ability to analyse min/max levels.
  • Manage a team of procurement Staff to ensure effective execution of the companies’ objectives across the spend pool, sourcing of critical spares and/or material and the effective management of suppliers.
  • Coordinate and work closely with Engineering and Manufaturing teams to ensure strategies are aligned and effectively executed.
  • Accountable for selecting Suppliers and determining prices and contracts, in line with delegation of authority guidelines and ensuring correct sign off procedures.
  • SQL and ODBC writing and analysis.
  • Recommend and influence choices around business partners building long-term sourcing strategies in order to secure supply, creating long term cost optimization and develop market knowledge.
  • Take costs out of the value chain as well as influence costs delivering a saving.
  • Investigations into shortcomings with the Procurement Office and Corrective measures to avoid similar scenarios in the future.
  • The writing of Standard Operating Procedures.

Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
