We invite suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Commercial Fianance Manager role based in Johannesburg.

What’s the objective of this role?

The Commercial Financial Manager is required to carry out the full financial function up to Management Accounts level. The CFM will be a supportive Business Partner to the National Commercial team & Group Marketing working very close with Regional DMs ensuring each region has a Commercial Finance Controller, Debtors Supervisor responsible to drive day to day financial outputs i.e financial reporting, monitoring of budgets, profitability, cost controls, pricing & tax functions.
The CFM will also be very Customer-centric in the trade and when required be Customer facing in strategic meetings when it comes to negotiating trading terms & competitive pricing models.

Duties & Responsibilities

Annual Budget Planning Process

  • Discuss income, expenses, and cost drivers with Commercial Divisional Managers
  • Collate information and put together in required format for final approve by Chief Commercial Officer
  • Ensure that expenditure is within budget parameters as defined by CCO and Group FM
  • Ensure the GP% is within the set range as defined by CCO and Group FM.
  • Calculate the impact on GP and EBITDA of changes in price or process.
  • Perform sensitivity analysis and scenario planning on GP and Commercial EBITDA.

Variance Analysis

  • Provide in-depth variance analysis for the Commercial Management and Regional Marketing accounts with feasible courses of action to resolve and prevent any recurrence of major issues.

Costing Models

  • Develop “what-if” costing and commercial models to understand cost/benefit of new customer and changes in pricing of new and current products. Provide advice and commentary in relation to these calculations.

Commercial Profitability

  • Takes accountability of monthly management account reporting.
  • Ensure that profitability is presented to management correctly as part of decision- making information.
  • Pro-actively monitors budgets to assist DMs in cost control & ensuring the profitability of each department.
  • Perform customer-centric profitability models to assist DMs in the decision-making process around:

– Onboarding customers,
– Negotiating trading terms, and
– Negotiating pricing models
Commercial Reviews

  • Participate in key company and customer forums and projects by providing commercial insight and advice.

Cost Controls/ Compliance

  • Measures/Controls – development and maintenance of controls (identify weaknesses, suggest recommendations, and implement project plans to execute).

Financial Reporting

  • Preparation of key financial reports – ad-hoc and as part of Management accounts.

Management Accounts Reporting

  • Ensure completion and review of reconciliations at month end, preparations of management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, capex management, cost control & variance analysis to be used as part of monthly management accounts.

Process and manage VAT and other tax functions

  • Process VAT statement from Navision.
  • Ensure correct allocation of capital inputs and outputs.
  • Ensure correct submission of VAT201.
  • Calculate the budgeted taxable income for provisional tax purposes.
  • Communicate with auditors to ensure correct completion and timeous payment of provisional tax.

Manage Debtors Control Function

  • Ensure the collection of payments process is running smoothly with Debtors Supervisors.
  • Ensure the timeous and correct capturing of invoices process is well executed with Debtors Supervisor.
  • Ensure maintenance of ERP database integrity monthly.
  • Ensure management of debtors’ supervisors and their respective development plans.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualification/Relevant Training:

  • B.Comm/ B Acc with CTA/PGDA or Equivalent
  • SAICA Registered
  • Solid Leadership internal/external training

Experience:

  • 5+ Years Middle Management Accounting experience, which covers Financial controls, Financial reporting with variance analysis.
  • People Leadership- Experience in Coaching & Developing small- medium size teams.
  • Experience working with Sales/Marketing BUs, with the ability to establish relationships with Key Customers in trade, whose co-operation is needed for the success of the organisation.
