Introduction
The Southern African Fruit Terminals (SAFT) Group of companies is a well-established and reputable cold storage operator.
SAFT provides management solutions for cold storage of fruit and other perishable industries. SAFT boasts with facilities throughout the Western Cape including ColdHarvest (Paarl), SAFT Killarney (Killarney Gardens) and SAFT Atlantic (Atlantic Hills).
We require the expertise of a suitably qualified TECHNICAL MANAGER to report directly to the Managing Director.
Based at Killarney Gardens, you will be responsible for:
- Management of the maintenance department and technicians;
- Development and execution of preventative maintenance plans for all facilities in the group;
- Maintenance of electrical, mechanical and refrigeration equipment and control systems;
- Budget preparation and cost management;
- Contractor management.
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification;
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience within a NH₃ (ammonia) cold storage facility environment;
- Comprehensive working knowledge and experience of temperature control systems;
- Proven track record of managing a team of at least 3 – 4 team members;
- Sound working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and protocols;
- Valid code 8 drivers license & own transport;
- Working outside normal working hours when required.
Skills and Competencies
- Action orientated and deadline driven;
- People management and team orientation skills;
- Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel;
- Excellent planning, co-ordinating and organizing skills;
- Sound problem solving and decision-making ability;
- Ability to work under pressure.
